A Symbol of Venetian Wealth and Power

The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark (Italian: Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco), commonly known as St Mark's Basilica, is the cathedral church of the Patriarchate of Venice. It became the episcopal seat of the Patriarch of Venice in 1807, replacing the earlier cathedral of San Pietro di Castello.

For centuries, it has been the symbol of Venetian wealth and power. Known as the "Church of Gold" (Chiesa d'Oro) for its opulent design and gold ground mosaics, it stands as a testament to the city's glorious past.
